Metal on stone
the hammer pounds.
Bang.
Bang, bang, bang.
A pause –
drawing near for a closer look.
After careful examination,
it is clear the work is not finished.
A new angle is chosen,
and with great precision
the chisel continues.
More time passes by.
The work is painstaking and arduous
yet, where there is love, there is no labor.
The attention and care of the Craftsman
leads to the slow transformation of this unique (stubborn) stone.
Each feature, bearing His own image and likeness,
is wonderfully revealed by the Master’s experienced touch.
Is there any doubt?
Or fear?
Or concern?
There is none more qualified for this great work!
My heart,
my life
in Your hands.
Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord.
I am hand made by the Lord.
Fiat mihi secundum verbum Tuum.
Chisel on!
